The Nigeria Association of Social Workers, NASoW has called on President Bola Tinubu to inaugurate the National Council for Social Works in the country.
The National Public Relations Officer of NASoW, Mr. Musiliudeen Adebayo made the call while speaking on “World Social Work Day” on Pensioners FM programme, Trending.
According to Mr. Adebayo, the former President, Muhammadu Buhari had signed the National Council for Social Works Establishment bill into law in 2022, but yet to be constituted.
Mr Adebayo said the establishment of the council would further legalised social works practice in all sectors of the country, in conformity with global practices.
Also on the programme, two social works students, Mr Adeniyi Adedokun and Ms Oluwatosin Oyeniyi said the practice of the professing is needed to provide services such as counselling, guidance and problem solving for all sectors.
