The newly appointed Chief Imam of Oyo Land, Barrister Bilaal Akinola-Akewugberu, has urged Nigerians to deepen their prayers and work collectively to address the country’s growing security challenges.

Speaking in an interview with a Pensioners’ FM correspondent, Barrister Akinola-Akewugberu noted that the current surge in killings, kidnappings, insurgency, and other violent crimes demands both spiritual commitment and practical action.

He stressed that while citizens should consistently seek divine intervention, they must also support ongoing initiatives aimed at restoring peace nationwide.

Barrister Akinola-Akewugberu appealed to federal government to enhance the capacity of Nigeria’s security agencies through improved funding, modern equipment, and better welfare packages for personnel.

Reacting to his appointment, he expressed gratitude to the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade, for ensuring a transparent selection process. He pledged to promote peace and religious harmony within the ancient town.

The new Chief Imam also extended an olive branch to other contestants in the selection process, calling on them to join hands with him in advancing the progress and unity of Oyo Land.
