Nigeria needs comprehensive strategy to combat flooding – Analysts

Two Public Affairs Analysts, Barrister Folusho Olapo and Mr John Njoku have called for immediate and effective interventions to address the devastating impacts of flooding in Nigeria.

Barrister Olapo and Mr Njoku made the call while reacting to recent flood incident in Borno State on Pensioners FM’s Weekend Current Affairs Programme “Voice of Liberation.

Barrister Olapo and Mr Njoku advocated for a comprehensive, well-coordinated response, including investments in flood infrastructure, regulation of activities that increase flood risks and community-based disaster preparedness.

They highlighted the socioeconomic implications of flooding, which  they said has become a persistent challenge in the country, affecting various communities and livelihoods.

Barrister Olapo and Mr Njoku stressed that environmental laws must be enforced to protect natural waterways and  in maintaining ecological balance.
