Oba Olakulehin Crowned 43rd Olubadan

Oba Akinloye Owolabi Ige-Olakulehin the first, has been crowned the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland.

This followed the completion of coronation rites at Labosinde compound and Ose meji house, Oja’ba Ibadan.

President Bola Tinubu, represented by Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, commended Governor Seyi Makinde for upholding traditional system of Ibadan in the selection and ascension of Oba Olakulehin.

President Tinubu while describing Ibadan traditional system as a role model to other communities in Yorubaland, called for the support of indigenes and prayed to God for a peaceful reign of Oba Olakulehin.

Presenting instrument of office to the 43rd Olubadan, Governor Makinde, said the coronation demonstrated that Ibadanland and its Indigene can be resilient and prayed for long life for the king.

Representing southern Governors, Dapo Abiọdun of Ogun State, said the coronation portrayed monarchial stability of Ibadanland.

In his acceptance speech, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin, appreciated Governor Makinde, federal government, Ibadan indigenes and other stakeholders for honoring him.

Until Governor Makinde approved his appointment by Olubadan-in-council, Oba Olakulehin’s was Otun Balogun of Ibadanland during Oba Lekan Balogun’s reign, in the traditional rotation system between the Balogun and Otun Olubadan lines.
