Members of some statutory commissions, whose list was earlier transmitted to the Assembly for screening by the state governor, Dapo Abiodun, have been admonished to develop strategies that will add value and turn around the fortunes of the statutory commissions for improved service delivery for the state public service.
The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Mr Oludaisi Elemide, gave the admonition, while presiding over the screening of the nominees from the House of Assembly Service Commission, Local Government Service Commission, Teaching Service Commission and Judicial Service Commission at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
He stated that their wealth of experience was needed to further drive the vision of the commissions, upon their clearance by the House and inauguration by the governor.
The Speaker implored them to align their duties with the ISEYA mantra of the Dapo Abiodun-led administration. He also commends the governor for the qualities of nomination, including former state lawmakers and appointees who had previously served in various categories, including statutory commissions, local governments, and private practices.
He further admonished them to ensure sustained synergy between the statutory commissions and the state legislature, while developing guidelines and policies that will reposition the public service for optimum performance.
In their respective remarks, the nominees, who spoke to their profiles, assured that they would contribute their quota, while discharging their responsibilities with integrity, loyalty and sincerity of purpose.
It would be recalled that Governor Dapo Abiodun had earlier transmitted a correspondence announcing the appointment to the board of commissions, including the Local Government Service Commission, having Mrs Olubukunola Onabanjo as Chairman, while Mr Lukman Adiro, Mr Martins Ijaduoye, Mr Olatunde Osunbiyi and Olatunde Rufai would serve as members.
For the State Teaching Service Commission, Apostle Abiodun Sanyaolu would serve as Chairman, while Mr Olanrewaju Majekodunmi, Mr Deola Akintonde, Mr Adeleke Salmon, Mrs Atinuke Bello and Mrs Kemi Oduwole as members.
The State House of Assembly Service Commission has Mr Suraj Adekunbi as Chairman, while Samuel Odukoya, Alhaji Fasiu Ajadi and Mr Folakemi Akintayo as members.
Also, the State Judicial Service Commission has Justice Mojisola Dipeolu as Chairman, Justice Femi-Segun Olusola, Mr. Olusina Ogungbade, SAN Adeyemi Ademuyiwa, Dr Saheed Oyede and Adesola Ayoola-Elegbeji, as members.
