The Okere of Sakiland, Oba Khalid Oyedepo III, has reaffirmed his commitment to the health and prosperity of the people of Saki and Oyo State at large.In a strategic consultative meeting held at his Palace, the Monarch received a high-level delegation from the Oyo State Primary Health Care Board (OYSPHCB) led by the State Health Educator,
Mr Olarinde Olaoye, alongside traditional leaders, healthcare professionals, and community stakeholders.
The convergence served as a critical platform to harmonize modern medical interventions with local cultural practices to ensure 100% immunization coverage for children.
While acknowledging the Oyo State Govt’s efforts, Oba Oyedepo III issued a direct appeal for the modernization of the state’s healthcare infrastructure.
He specifically advocated for urgent construction of public toilets in strategic locations to curb open defecation and prevent disease outbreaks, comprehensive equipping of Primary Health Centres (PHCs), recruitment and deployment of additional health workers to address the current shortage and provide quality care to the grassroots.
The Okere commended the Board’s initiative to study cultural concepts and infant immunization demand, noting that community-centered delivery is the key to healthcare transformation. He further lauded the FG’s commitment to facilitating Food Banks within Primary Health Centres to tackle malnutrition alongside immunization.
In a decisive move to protect the moral and physical health of the next generations, Oba Olabisi also called for a strategic crackdown on environmental and social risks surrounding our schools.
In his closing remarks, the Monarch made a passionate plea to every parent to take full advantage of the current immunization round, while prioritizing their children’s education as a tool for lifelong value addition.
