Olubadan Commends Sultan of Sokoto for His Religious Tolerance

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has commended the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar for his religious tolerance.

Oba Ladoja gave the commendation while playing host to the Sultan and his entourage at Olubadan Oke Aremo palace, Ibadan.

According to Oba Ladoja, Alhaji Abubakar has a long history of being a peace builder, describing him as a good friend and a brother who was groomed in Ibadan as a potential leader years back.

Olubadan explained that if all religious leaders could emulate Alhaji Abubakar’s virtue of religious tolerance, there could never be religious misunderstanding in Nigeria.

Oba Ladoja appreciated the Sultan of Sokoto who is the present Chancellor of the University of Ibadan for contributing to the emergence of Prof. Kayode Adebowale as the first Ibadan Indigene to be appointed as the Vice – Chancellor of the University, since its establishment in 1948.

On his part, Alhaji Abubakar disclosed that he was at the palace with his entourage drawn from the six geo -political zones of the country to express the University of Ibadan’s gratitude to the Olubadan for providing it with an enabling environment.

Alhaji Abubakar assured Oba Ladoja that the University would be consulting him on a regular basis.

Eminent personalities, including the management of the University of Ibadan, traditional rulers, president Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, CCII, Barrister Ajeniyi Ajewole, president Muslim Ummal in the South western Nigeria, MUSWEN, Alhaji Rasaq Oladejo, foremost school administrator, Mrs. Bola Doherty and media executives were at the ceremony.

Highlights of the visit include presentation of a Oba Ladoja’s coronation compendium to Oba Ladoja by the Vice Chancellor, University of Ibadan as well as gift to Sultan by the Olubadan palace.
