Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has approved one point three billion naira for the payment of gratuity and death benefits to retirees of Public Primary Schools and Local Government Service for the first quarter of 2024.
Commissioner for Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Honourable Olusegun Olayiwola, made this known while addressing newsmen at the state Secretariat.
According to Honourable Olayiwola, over four hundred retirees are to benefit from the payment of the gratuity and death benefits for the first phase which would commence tomorrow.
Honourable Olayiwola stated that Governor Makinde led administration has paid over 17 billion naira out of over 27 billion naira gratuity and death benefits inherited from the past administrations.
He re-emphasised on Governor Makinde’s commitment in making life meaningful and bearable for all pensioners in the state.
Meanwhile, Honourable Olayiwola noted that Governor Makinde has also reinstated all pensioners that have missed “I AM ALIVE” screening exercise since 1994 till date to the monthly payroll of pension allowance.
He noted that this includes both state pensioners and local government staff pension boards.
