The Oyo State Government has approved One billion, six hundred and fifty million for the payment of gratuities and death benefits to Retired local government staff and primary school teachers.

The Chairman, Local Government Staff Pension Board, Oyo state Honourable Akeem Ige made this known during the flagging off ceremony held at the local government staff training school, Secretariat, Ibadan.
According to Honourable Ige, four hundred and fifty-four, 454 beneficiaries would receive the payments for the month of March, April and May.

He also used the opportunity to advice the beneficiaries to spend them gratuity wisely and not to engage in business with fraudster.
Honourable Ige assured the pensioners that Governor Seyi Makinde will continue to prioritize their welfare.

Also speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Service Commission, Bashorun Akinwale Solomon Akinwole in his remarks, lauded governor Seyi Makinde’s exemplary leadership qualities , who has positively impacted lives and transformed all sectors since he assumed office in May 2019 till date. He then congratulated all the beneficiaries of the payment exercise.
In a welcome address, the Permanent Secretary of the board, Alhaji lukman Muraina said Governor Makinde has approved upward review of gratuity and arrears.
In a Goodwill message, Chairman, Retired Primary School Teachers, Oyo State, Comrade Dosu Akinpelu who lauded Governor Makinde for his efforts, noted that if previous administration had been following this footstep, there would not be any backlog of gratuities.

Two beneficiaries appreciated Governor Makinde’s efforts in ensuring that pensioners enjoyed dividends of their hard work and prayed that God will continue to protect the governor.
Dignitaries that graced the occasion include the Permanent Secretary, Ibadan Zone 1 Pastor Adeola Oduola, NUP state Trustee 1, Comrade Ayodabo Joel, State Secretary, Retired Local Government Staff wing Comrade Ricketts Olasupo , State Secretary , Retired Primary School Teachers wing, Comrade Tunji Ogunwale , all NUP branch Chairmen, Heads of Departments , LGSPB among others.
