The Wife of Oyo state governor, Mrs Tamunominini Makinde has called for a collective commitment towards protecting the health and well-being of all children in the state.
Mrs Makinde made the call during the 2025 Integrated Measles-Rubella Campaign flag-off ceremony in collaboration with the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, NPHCDA, and development partners such as World Health Organisation, WHO, United Nations Children’s Fund UNICEF, and AFENET, held at Ibadan North-east Secretariat, Ibadan.
According to Mrs Makinde, represented by Chairman, Oyo State Primary Health Care Board, Mr Dada Awoleye, measles, one of the most contagious diseases capable of causing severe complications such as pneumonia, diarrhea, blindness, and death, while Rubella which poses devastating risks to unborn babies are vaccine-preventable.

She added that the goal of the state government is to ensure no child is left behind, and that every eligible child aged 9 months to 59 months receives the measles-rubella vaccine.

On her part, the state Commissioner for Health, Dr Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr Akintunde Ayinde, lauded WHO, UNICEF, NPHCDA and all supporting organizations, for their technical and financial assistance in planning, training, and supervision of the ongoing campaign.
Speaking on behalf of other supporting organisations UNICEF Health Specialist, Lagos field office, Dr. Ijeoma Agbo, called on parents, caregivers, teachers, and community leaders to ensure every eligible child receives their dose of childhood vaccines.


Highlight of the event was vaccination of children present at the event.
