Oyo Govt. Pays over N23bn Gratuity, Other Benefits since 2019

The Oyo State government has paid over 23 billion naira as gratuities and death benefits to retired primary school teachers and retired local government workers since 2019.

Chairman, Oyo State Local Government Staff Pension Board, Honourable Akeem Ige made this known at the monthly payments of gratuities and death benefits to retirees held at the state Secretariat, Ibadan.

According to Honourable Ige, Oyo state government earmarked over one billion naira for February and last month payment of gratuities and death benefits to over 250pensioners.

Honourable Ige said previous administrations in the state had owed retirees over 36 billion naira.

Earlier, Permanent Secretary of Oyo State Local Government Staff Pension Board, Alhaji Lukmon Muraina reiterated that the “I AM ALIVE” verification has assisted the state government in facilitating payment of pensioners’ entitlements.

Some of the beneficiaries appreciated Governor Seyi Makinde for his commitment to welfare of pensioners and workers.

Present at the event were Chairman, Retired Primary School Teachers, Comrade Dosu Akinpelu and Chairman, Retired Local Government Workers, Comrade Ajisope Muniru.
