Oyo Govt., PROTAAN to Priotise Vocational Skills among Youths

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has reiterated his commitment to invest more on vocational skills and trades to boost the state’s economy.

Governor Makinde made this known at the grand finale of the 2024 Artisans week of Progressive Tradesmen and Artisans Association of Nigeria, PROTAAN, Oyo state chapter, held at Recreation Center, Ibadan.

Governor Makinde, who was represented by the state commissioner for trade,Investment, industry and cooperative, Otunba Ademola Ojo, called on all members of PROTAAN and other trade associations to register with state government as part of efforts to create a level playing ground for Artisans and traders in the state.

Governor Makinde also promised to strengthen the relationship with PROTAAN to reduce unemployment in the state.

Earlier, President PROTAAN, Mogaji Salaudeen Adeniyi while lauding Governor Makinde’s efforts on strengthening relationships with tradesmen and artisans, urged him to organise a free interest loan for small scale business in the state.

Mogaji Adeniyi, who is also Vice President of Market Leaders Advisory Council, reiterated PROTAAN’s commitment to train youths in vocational skills free of charge.

Dignitaries present were Commissioner for Culture and tourism, Dr Wasiu Olatunbosun, Member of Oyo state house of assembly representing Ibadan Northwest, Hon. Daud Olarele popularly known as D-Almeen, Member of Oyo state house of assembly representing Oluyole constituency, Hon. Waheed Akintayo and President CCII, Barrister Niyi Ajewole.

Highlights of the event were awards presentation, display of goods and services, cultural dance and exhibitions.
