The Oyo state Government has released over 1.3 billion naira to clear all the non-statutory deductions of civil servants in the state for the months of June, July and August, 2023.

Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, who made this known in a statement, said the development was in fulfilment of the pledge Governor Seyi Makinde made during a state broadcast last month, in the wake of a week-long protest by the state labour unions.

Prince Oyelade noted that workers, who choose to continue making cooperative contributions, will have to work with their unions as the state government will no longer be making any deductions from salaries.

The commissioner also noted that Oyo state has complied with the directive of 30,000 naira minimum wage for three years, unlike some states in the country.

The commissioner added that Governor Makinde enjoys the support of the over 71,000 Oyo state civil servants because of his genuine love for their welfare.
