The Organised Labour leaders in Oyo state are seeking an interactive session with the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde concerning their demand of 35,000 naira and 25,000-naira wage award for workers and pensioners.
The Labour leaders, Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC Oyo state Council, Comrade Kayode Martins and Secretary, Nigeria Union of Pensioners, NUP Oyo State Council, Comrade Olusegun Abatan made this known while featuring on a monitored radio programme in Ibadan.
According to Comrade Martins, the 11-man ad hoc inter-ministerial committee on harmonisation on various labour demands set-up by Governor Makinde, is yet to conclude on any issue relating to workers and pensioners, hence, the need to see him personally.
He said the effects of fuel subsidy removal have continued to affect the welfare of workers and pensioners in the state, thus, the need for wage award to be implemented.
Comrade Martins equally reiterated that the 7-day ultimatum given to Governor Makinde by the state NLC was in conformity with an agreement with the national NLC.
On his part, Comrade Abatan further reaffirmed that Governor Makinde’s SAfER package to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal, did not get to any pensioner in the state, calling on the governor to look into it.
Comrade Abatan advised Governor Makinde to work towards strengthening industrial harmony with workers and Pensioners in the state.
