Oyo NSCDC Commandant Parades Eight Suspects

In line with the Core mandate of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to protect, the command, following a credible intelligence over the activities of criminal elements in every nook and cranny of the State has paraded eight suspects.

This was made known in a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Samuel Opebiyi.

According to the statement, parading the suspects today at the State Command Headquarters in Ibadan, the State Commandant, Augustine Padonu, while addressing  newsmen gave the names of the suspects as follows: Bande Mohammed, male, age 45yrs, Useni  Yoyo, male 45yrs, Olalekan Ibrahim male, age 25yrs, Akinpelu Ibrahim male, age 25yrs, Folarin Bankole, male, 52yrs, and Olokun Olawale male, 33yrs, others are Abdulkadir Sahadu male, age 50yrs and Afolabi Moses male, 44yrs.

Commandant Padonu said the first suspect; Bande Mohammed was arrested on Saturday, 3rd of February, 2024, at a Fulani settlement popularly called Budo Musa under Iwajowa Local Government Area of the State, for allegedly dealing in illegal mining activities at a neighbouring Community known as Dabo-Zamia village in collaboration with a suspected illegal miner, who is at large.

He added that, one Mallam Useni Yoyo was also nabbed by a combined team of NSCDC Agro Rangers for allegedly grazing his herd of cattle on a farmland at Ilora Community, therefore, destroying the farm produce worth about five millions naira.

In a case of conspiracy and stealing, the State Commandant, paraded two suspects identified as Olalekan Ibrahim, male, 25yrs, native of Ibadan from Sagbe Area of Abosi Olere  and Akinpelu Lekan, male 25yrs, who both specialized in motor spare parts theft, especially from shop owners in Sagbe , Moniya area of Ibadan.

Items recovered from the suspects  includes, 1 tipper gear selector, 1 cap gear, 1 gear flag and 8 belt buckles.

Also, two suspects, Folarin Bankole male, 52yrs and Olokun Olawale male 33yrs used their point of sales (POS) machine named(Brighter Golden Links Clothier) to fraudulently received money from an unsuspecting members of the public at a gunpoint in Akobo area of Ibadan, during an armed robbery operation in November last year.

Meanwhile, two other suspects Abdulkadir Sahadu, male, 50yrs and Afolabi Moses, male, 44yrs were also paraded for stealing a Bajaj Motorcycle with registration BDJ 413 UG reportedly parked at CAC Oke Agbara, Ashi, Bodija, on 2nd of February 2024.

The Commandant said the suspects will be arraigned in Court after completion of investigation.

Commandant Padonu urged the public to be vigilant and provide useful information to NSCDC and other Security agencies so as to collectively fight crime and criminality in the State.
