The Oyo State Ministry of Culture and Tourism has awarded the Nigeria Union of Pensioners, NUP, Oyo State Council, the Highest Contingent at the just concluded World Egungun Festival, 2025.
The Secretary, Oyo NUP, Comrade Olusegun Abatan, made this known when the State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr Wasiu Olatunbosun led some delegates on a thank you visit to his office at Pensioners House, Agbarigo, Onireke, Ibadan.
Comrade Abatan, appreciated the ministry for extending its invitation to pensioners in the state and promised more attendees at the next World Egungun Festival.
Comrade Abatan, lauded the ministry for putting the world event together and acknowledged its success.
Reacting, Dr. Olatunbosun said the purpose of the visit was to appreciate the members of Oyo NUP for coming out en mass in beautiful attires to honour the event and further sought more cooperation from the union in achieving the ministry’s future activities.
Also speaking, the Ministry’s Cultural Center General Manager, Mr Kunle Agboola and the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Muftau Ayoola, noted that the ministry would not have achieved the success of Egungun festival without the pensioners in the state.
A special prayer for Comrade Abatan, Oyo NUP and presentation of a gift were the highlights of the visit.
