The Oyo State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in the fight against criminality with the arrest of two suspected members of a notorious “one-chance” robbery syndicate operating in Ibadan and its environs.
According to a press statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Adewale Osifeso, the suspects Kolawole Moshood, 42, and Opeyemi Kuburat, 45 were apprehended on July 12, 2025, along the Old Ibadan/Oyo Road following actionable intelligence and weeks of surveillance.
The arrests came on the heels of a viral video exposing the gang’s illicit operations, prompting the Commissioner of Police to direct Tactical Units to track down the perpetrators. Officers from the Command Monitoring Unit, acting swiftly, located and intercepted the suspects using informant networks.
During the operation, police recovered a Nissan Almera with registration number FST 779 DL, believed to have been used in the gang’s criminal activities. Upon interrogation, the suspects reportedly confessed to being central members of the gang and admitted to robbing and defrauding multiple victims.
So far, three victims have come forward to positively identify the suspects as those who robbed them on separate occasions. Authorities say efforts are ongoing to locate other gang members and recover any remaining weapons or stolen items.
The police have called on other victims of the syndicate to come forward with information that could assist in the ongoing investigation and eventual prosecution of the suspects.
“We are committed to ridding our communities of criminals,” the statement read. “We urge anyone with relevant information to step forward and support this investigation.”
