The Oyo State Steering Committees on Child Labour under the Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity, has called on parents to join hands in the campaign to eliminate child labour in the country.
A member of the Committee, Mr. Olubayo Oyedeji made this known while featuring on Pensioners FM stewardship Yoruba Programme, Abo Ree.
Mr Oyedeji said despite the ongoing public sensitisation on child labour, some parents have continued to involve children in hazardous work.
Mr Oyedeji urged parents to cooperate with the government in achieving the expansion of social security coverage for children.
He further stressed the need for continuous sensitisation of the public on the protection of children’s rights to avoid societal risks such as rape and assault.
