Secretary, Nigeria Union of Pensioners, NUP, Oyo State Council, Comrade Olusegun Abatan, says the State Governor, Seyi Makinde has approved money for the payment of pension arrears for pensioners in the state.
Comrade Abatan made this known while reacting to the 13 points agenda submitted by the union to the state government by on Pensioners FM programme “Trending”.
According to Comrade Abatan, Governor Makinde has directed State and Local government Pensions Board to commence the payment of the pension arrears soon.
Comrade Abatan noted that Governor Makinde has also showed interest in addressing some other issues in the 13 points agenda which include the 33 percent pension increment and consequential adjustment.
The Oyo NUP Scribe who lauded Governor Makinde efforts in ensuring that pensioners enjoin dividend of democracy, also appealed to him not to relent in his efforts.
Comrade Abatan further used the opportunity to re-emphasise the union’s commitment in prioritising the welfare of pensioners in the state.
