The Wife of Oyo State Governor, Tamunominini Makinde, has lauded the State Chapter of the Police Officers’ Wives Association, POWA, for prioritising the welfare of families of fallen Police heroes.
Mrs. Makinde, who was the special guest of honour, made this known in Ibadan, at the empowerment skills acquisition and distribution of palliatives to the families of fallen Police heroes, organised by POWA.

According to Mrs. Makinde, the event was a real demonstration of the country’s national anthem, which stated that the “labour of the country’s heroes’ past shall not be in vain”.
Mrs. Makinde, however, appealed to the widows to encourage their children to make judicious use of the skills acquired.

Earlier in her remark, the State POWA Chairperson, Dr Nadia Hamzat, noted that the event was organized to empower the children and wives of deceased policemen with shoe making skills and sharing of food palliatives to eighty widows.
“POWA remains an indivisible family that stands together, come rain come shine, continuously lending a hand to needy families and by extension, the larger community through initiatives such as sanitation exercises, relief aid during natural disasters, campaign against drug abuse, child molestation, trafficking and cultism as well as gender-based violations”
Dr Hamzat also sought the support of well-meaning Nigerians in order to make the programme more elaborate in capacity to accommodate more widows.
Among Two widows who benefited from the palliatives appreciated Dr Hamzat for caring about them.
The widows, who appreciated the POWA Chairperson and the members for their support urged them not to relent on their oars at bringing succour to them.
