Red Cross Solicits Youths Involvement

Youths have been called upon to volunteer for the Red Cross Society.

Director of Programme and Partnership, Nigerian Red Cross Society, National Headquarter, Dr Manir Jega made the call at a Leadership Symposium organised by Nigerian Red Cross Society, Oyo state branch, as part of activities lined up for the World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day held at Department of Peace, Conflict and Humanitarian Studies,  University of Ibadan.

Speaking on the topic “Red Cross, Beyond First Aid” Dr Jega said for Red Cross’s mission of service to humanity to thrive in the society, youth inclusiveness is essential, as they are key drivers to every sphere of life.

Dr Jega reiterated that the duty of Nigerian Red Cross Society was beyond providing first aid but to help navigate during hard periods.

On his part, Chairman, Nigerian Red Cross Society, Oyo State Branch, Engineer Olaleye Famade reiterated the society’s commitment towards ensuring humanitarian service to members of the society.

Earlier, Chairperson, 2026 World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day Committee, Mrs Olubunmi Olasunkanmi, enjoined Nigerians to attend the grand finale of the Week, in which some advocates of humanity service would be decorated.

Highlights of the event included a panel discussion on the importance of Red Cross Society on humanity and its benefits beyond profession.
