The Society of Nigeria Broadcasters, SBN has described the destruction of multi-billion-naira equipment of Africa Independent Television, AIT, Port-Harcourt, by Rivers state government as an affront against the judiciary.
SBN Coordinating Chairman, Mr Festus Kehinde made this known in a statement made available to newsmen.
According to Mr Kehinde, the action of Rivers State government as a party in the lawsuit on the matter pending before the court was synonymous to a malicious political gang up.
He said the action was totally unacceptable and should be condemned by all lovers of justice and equity and noted that SBN is joining other well-meaning Nigerians and professional bodies to condemn the act.
Mr Kehinde called on government and its agencies at all levels to refrain from actions that were capable of compromising the international image of Nigeria among a comity of nations.
He added that the owners of AIT, Daar Communications be adequately compensated by the Rivers State government.
