An Islamic scholar, Sheikh Mustapha Bello, has called on the government, communities and religious leaders to collaborate in addressing the rising issue of corruption in Nigeria.

Sheikh Bello, who was the guest lecturer at the annual Ramadan lecture organized by the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Agbowo Branch, delivered the address to a gathering of worshippers and political leaders.

The event was hosted in Ibadan, by the Chairperson of the Branch Women’s Council, Alhaja Muibat Ogunyode.

Speaking on the topic “Community Pollution: Islamic Perspective,” Sheikh Bello emphasised that the fear of stagnation and failure to progress is a key factor fueling corruption at both local and national levels.

Sheikh Bello explained that the fear often drives individuals to engage in unethical behavior and to prioritise personal gain over collective good.

Sheikh Bello stressed that effectively combating corruption requires a fundamental shift in mindset, with leaders and citizens alike focusing on integrity, justice, and the greater good.

Earlier, the Branch Chairman, Alhaji Ismail Adegbola, explained that the purpose of the lecture was to offer solutions to the issue of community pollution.

Alhaji Adegbola also expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the Ramadan lecture.

Other attendees include the Branch Missioner and Imam, Fadlat Sheikh Abudl Fatai-Ya’aqub.
