The Southwest Zone of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners, NUP, says the condition of pensioners in the South-west remain the same with gratuities yet to be paid.
The NUP South-west Zonal Public Relations Officer, Comrade Olusegun Abatan, stated this at a bi-monthly meeting held at Pensioners House, Agbarigo, Onireke, Ibadan.
According to Comrade Abatan, some states in the Southwest paid gratuities last between 2012 and 2014, frowning at the attitude and decrying the sufferings, anguish, and mass death of pensioners.
Comrade Abatan added that the Southwest Zone of NUP, has proposed to the state governors, a 40,000 naira minimum monthly pension for pensioners in their states.
Comrade Abatan also called on Nigerians to rise to their feet and fight for their rights.
Among those present at the meeting include, National Vice President Southwest Zonal NUP, Comrade Ayo Kumapayi, Chairman, Southwest Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Comrade Waheed Oloyede, NUP National Coordinator Southwest, Chief Fola Akintunde and NUP Chairman, Oyo State Council, Chief Isiaka Abolade.
