State policing will tackle Nigeria’s growing security challenges – PCRC

By Michael Adeyemo

The Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Egbeda Police Divisional Headquarters, Gbagi, Ibadan, Oyo State, Hon. Abiodun Bello, says the creation of state police would play a significant role in tackling Nigeria’s growing security challenges.

Hon. Bello made the remark in an interview with Pensioners FMCorrespondent shortly after featuring on the station’s Yoruba stewardship programme, “Abo Ree”.

According to him, state policing would enhance intelligence gathering and quick response to local threats, as officers familiar with their communities would be better positioned to identify and address security issues promptly.

He also urged government at all levels to ensure proper regulation, training, and monitoring to make the proposed state policing system effective and accountable.
