Some hoodlums, again on Tuesday, carted away bags of rice meant for vulnerable residents of Ibadan North West local government, Onireke.

Pensioners FM had reported on Monday that some hoodlums attacked the team distributing the palliatives and went away with some bags of rice.

Speaking with our correspondent, Head, Ibadan North West  local government palliatives distribution team, Mr Quadri Olayemi said 2,137 10kg bags of rice were meant to be distributed in the 11 wards of the local government, but the process was hijacked by some hoodlums on Monday and Tuesday, who shot in the air to carry out the act.

Mr Olayemi, said the distribution would be put on hold until security is beef up.

Meanwhile, some beneficiaries faulted the distribution method, alleging that it was in favour of some political party loyalties.

Oyo state Governor, Seyi Makinde had last Wednesday, August 29, 2023 flagged off the distribution of palliatives to two hundred thousand residents of the state to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal.
