A veteran journalist, Comrade Cosmos Oni has called for better welfare for journalists.
Comrade Oni made this known while featuring on pensioners FM programme, “The Grey Hair” which profiles the past life of the elderly.
He implored media organisation owners to ensure that better remuneration and other welfare packages are made available to their workers for an improved and professional performance.
Speaking further, the former Vice President, NUJ, Southwest Zone, called on regulatory bodies in the media space such as National Broadcasting Commission, NBC and Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, to sponsor a bill to the National Assembly that would regulate the excesses of online journalism.
Comrade Oni noted that while online journalism provides timeliness and immediacy, it often lacks accuracy and facts, which are major elements of professional journalism.
