Abia State government has urged residents of the State to avoid contact with rodents and to immediately seek medical attention, when sick.
The Commissioner for Information, Okey Kanu gave the advice on Monday at Government House, Umuahia, while releasing the outcome of Abia State executive council meeting presided over by Governor Alex Otti.
Kanu said that there are no confirmed cases of Ebola virus, Covid-19, Cholera, Lassa Fever, Rabies, Mpox, Lassa Fever or Diphtheria in any part of the State.
He, however, urged the residents to maintain personal and environmental hygienes.
“Residents are urged to maintain personal and environmental hygiene, avoid contact with rodents and seek medical attention when ill”, the Commissioner said.
Kanu said that the State government is monitoring the outbreak of Ebola Virus in Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda, as alerted by the World Health Organization, WHO, and the Nigerian Centre for Diseases Control and Prevention, NCDC.
