Bright Ville College, Ashi, Ibadan, and Wonderful Group of Schools, Oloje, Ido, have reached the final of the maiden edition of Pensioners FM 106.7 Five-a-Side football competition for secondary schools in Oyo State.
At the Olubadan stadium, Iyaganku, Ibadan, venue of the competition, Bright Ville College, made it to the final after playing a 2-2 draw against Wonderful Group of Schools and thrashing International College of Art, Science and Technology, ICAST, Oluyole, Ibadan 7-1 in their second match.
Wonderful Group of Schools, who put up impressive performance by defeating ICAST, 4-1 and a 2-2 draw against Bright Ville College, equally scaled through to the final scheduled for 27 of this month, to commemorate Children’s Day.
In a post match interview, Coach Kekedo Eweka of Bright Ville College, Aare Tiamiyu Asimiyu of Wonderful Group of Schools and Coach Ayo Ademulegun of ICAST School, commended the spirit of sportsmanship of the players and the smooth organization of the tournament.
Also speaking, Head Coach of Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan, Gbenga Ogunbote, who was part of the teeming spectators and an ex-international, Felix Owolabi, applauded Pensioners FM for initiating a youth sports development programme.
Ogunbote and Owolabi appealed to other stakeholders to key into grassroot football in Nigeria.
Other activity lined for the May 27 final of Pensioners FM 106.7 Five-a-Side football competition for secondary schools is a novelty match between Pensioners FM Agbalode FC and Solutions FM team.
