CPUN Vows to Take Protest to Abuja over Demands

Members of the Contributory Pensioners Union of Nigeria, (CPUN), South West zone have threatened to protest at Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja if their delayed demands are not addressed.

They made this known at their zonal General meeting held in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.

South West Chairman of Contributory Pensioners Union of Nigeria (CPUN), Chief Joseph Idowu said that some of their grievances were stagnated monthly programmed withdrawal and annuity, refusal of federal Government to pay palliative to their members, non-payment of 15 and 33 percent increase in pension in 2007 and 2009, also consequential adjustment in 2019.

Other demands, according to the retirees are non-payment of full salaries as pensions to Professors, and non-payment of accrued interests on retirement benefits since 2007 till date.

While lamenting the death of over 30 percent of their members nationwide and thirty in Ibadan alone, Treasurer of the Union, Chief Adesegun Adeleke, called for resolution of the crisis by the President Bola Tinubu government by changing to monthly pension payment after.

In attendance were executives of Branches of CPUN, members and representatives of Provosts of Federal college of Agriculture, Animal and Health, Production Technology, Executive Director of Institute of Agricultural Research and Training (IART), Ibadan.
