Ibadan Explosion: 50 buildings fail structural integrity- Alonge

Over fifty Buildings have failed structural integrity test as search and rescue operations ended at the site of last Tuesday’s explosion at Dejo Oyelese Street, off Adeyi Avenue, Old Bodija, Ibadan, Oyo State.

The incident manager of the occurrence, Professor Temitope Alonge who made this known during an interview with Pensioners FM Correspondent, said the ongoing efforts are being geared towards preventing further danger.

“The Nigeria Society of Engineers commences activities on Thursday accessing the integrity of the houses within 250 meters radius from the epic-center and its pretty saddened that many houses have been badly damage, some of them are not appropriate for habitation”- Professor Alonge stated   

Professor Alonge noted that his task force will present its report to the state government for the next line of action on the incident and victims.

“By Monday will should be able close up activities in the epi-center”-Professor Alonge noted

As at the time of filling this report, evacuation of building rubbles and debris is ongoing at the site of the explosion estate.

Pensioners FM Correspondent, who visited the site as a follow up to the Tuesday’s incident reports that excavator’s debris and vehicle wreckages are being evacuated from the site of the explosion

Meanwhile, members of the Nigeria Red Cross, medics from the Oyo State mission health, emergency agency and officers of the Oyo State fire service    were also seen on standby in case of emergencies.

Pensioner’s FM correspondent also said personnel of various security agencies were on ground to ensure and maintain law and order.
