Chairman, Oyo State Local Government Staff Pension Board, Hon. Akeem Ige has deliberated with the Nigeria Union of Pensioners, NUP, Oyo State Council on issues pertaining to the welfare of retired primary school teachers and local government retirees.
Hon. Ige said the meeting was convened to put machinery in motion to review the modalities for disbursement of gratuities to beneficiaries and to accommodate more retirees based on the recent increase in the monthly payment of pension and gratuity from 250 million to 500 million naira.
He said the meeting was also, to fast track the process of disbursement from every four months to three months.
Contributing, Oyo NUP Secretary, Comrade Olusegun Abatan lauded the state government on the achievements recorded in terms of pensioners’ welfare.
On his part, Permanent Secretary of the Local Government Staff Pension Board, Alhaji Lukman Muraina stated that all necessary steps would be taken to ensure continuous and smooth implementation of government policies by the board.
The meeting had in attendance Chairman Retired Primary School Teachers, Comrade Dosu Akinpelu, Chairman Retired Local Government staff, Dr Taiwo Ayanlowo, Secretary Primary School Teachers, Comrade Tunji Ogunwale , Director of Administration and General Services , Mr Kehinde Fasola.
