NDLEA Intercepts 250kg Cannabis Sativa in Ibadan

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, says drug abuse and trafficking can be reduced to the barest minimum.

The Public Relations Officer of the Agency in Oyo State, Alhaja Mutiat Okuwobi made this known while featuring on Pensioners’ FM Current Affairs Programme, “The searchlight.”

Alhaja Okuwobi, who noted that NDLEA was not resting in tackling illicit drugs trade in the state, said this year, the agency has been able to prosecute twenty one drug traffickers so far this year, in which the court has sentenced them to several jail terms and life imprisonment.

Alhaja Okuwobi, also said that two hundred and fifty kilograms of substance suspected to be Cannabis sativa was recently intercepted in the state.

Speaking further, the NDLEA image maker, who stated that some of the factors responsible for the prevalence of illegal drug abuse and trafficking were quick money syndrome and peer pressure, advised parents to always monitor the activities of their children.

Alhaja Okuwobi called on other stakeholders to join NDLEA in the fight against drug abuse and trafficking and report all criminal activities associated with the menace to appropriate quarters.
