President, Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC Comrade Joe Ajaero has insisted that the proposed 615,000 naira as minimum wage is realistic with the current economic realities.
Comrade Ajaero made this known on a televised programme, monitored by Pensioners FM.
According to Comrade Ajaero, the proposed 615,000 naira is negotiable only if the government would regulate the price of commodities to meet the standard living of workers.
Speaking further, the NLC Chairman described the 35% salary increment by the federal government for some Structures as mischievous considering the present economic situation.
Comrade Ajero, therefore, urged federal government to fast track the process for the new minimum wage, to avoid industrial actions, while commending state governments that have announced new minimum wage, calling on others to do so.
