Chairman, governing council of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, Professor Siyan Oyeweso, has promised a stable and achievable academic calendar for the institution.
Professor Oyeweso made this known to newsmen after a 3 day inaugural meeting with the institution’s Academic Staff Unions, Student Union and other associations at the school premises.
According to Professor Oyeweso, the agenda of the council is to prioritise staff and students welfare, academic excellence and to maintain peace within the institution.
Professor Oyeweso, during a tour to student hostels, lamented the state of the building infrastructure and promised to facilitate rehabilitation.
Also speaking to newsmen, the Vice Chancellor, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Professor Adebayo Bamire, lauded President Bola Tinubu for initiating the governing council and expressed optimism about the council’s capabilities.
