Oyo Govt. Recovers over N30m from First “I Am Alive” Verification

The Oyo state government says the previous “I Am Alive” verification exercise in the state, has enabled the government discovered deceased pensioners on government payroll.

The Chairman, Oyo State Local Government Staff Pension Board, Honourable Akeem Ige made this known at the official launch of the second batch of “I Am Alive” verification of retired primary school teachers and local government retirees in Ibadan, Oyo state capital.

According to Honourable Ige, the first verification helped the government accrued over 30 million naira into its coffers and also limited the activities of fraudsters within the system.

Honorable Ige during the monitoring of the “I Am Alive” verification for retired primary school teachers, at five local governments areas today, lauded the executives of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Oyo state council at the local governments, for providing a conducive environment for the exercise.

The local government visited during the monitoring included Ibadan Northeast, Ibadan Southeast, Ibadan Southwest, Ibadan Northwest and Ibadan North.

The verification for retired primary school teachers at the 5 local government areas continue tomorrow while for local government retirees in the local government begins on Thursday.

Honourable Ige added that the “I Am Alive” verification in all the 33 local government areas will end on the 28th of this month.
