The Oyo state government has released over 1.3 billion naira for the payment of gratuity and death benefits to over four hundred retired primary school teachers and local government retirees.

The Permanent Secretary, Local Government Staff Pension Board, Alhaji Lukman Muraina made this known at the screening of the retirees in Ibadan.

According to Alhaji Muraina, 2014 and 2019 retired primary school teachers were beneficiaries of the gratuities and death benefits, as well as 2018 and 2019 local government retirees.
Speaking further, Alhaji Muraina said the gratuities would be transferred to the beneficiaries after the physical verification with the board.

Chairman, retired primary school teachers, under the aegis of Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Oyo state council, Comrade Dosu Akinpelu advised beneficiaries to use the money wisely and avoid engaging in unfamiliar ventures.
Some of the beneficiaries appreciated Governor Makinde’s efforts in making their lives better.

The exercise ends next week Thursday.
