Oyo State Government has sought the cooperation of parents and teachers in identifying Tuberculosis, TB missing cases in children.
The Childhood TB Focal Person, Oyo State, Mrs Titilayo Adebola called for the cooporation during a sensitisation on importance of TB testing, at Islamic Mission Primary School, Odo-iye, Yemetu, Ibadan.

According to Mrs Adebola, parents and teachers are the closest to children and can easily identify signs and symptoms of TB, such as coughs that persist more than 1 week and when a child is not thriving.

Mrs Adebola also noted that if there are suspected or confirmed TB cases in adults, all children around such adults must be brought in for testing, adding that TB testing and treatment are free in all Primary Health Care Centres, PHCs across the state.

Also speaking, Head Teacher, Islamic Mission Primary School, Odo-iye,Yemetu, Mr Busari Olayode, said the TB testing exercise in the state is laudable and called for continuity.

The Oyo state government had commenced TB screening and testing of children aged 0-14 years across the state, in line with national testing week across the federation which started on Saturday to end 2nd of June,2024.
