A Legal Practitioner, Barrister Agoro Lanre, says federal government and Nigerians have crucial roles to play in stemming the tide of naira devaluation.
Barrister Lanre made this known at the 8th Annual/4th Memorial Lecture of late Surveyor Lasisi Ali, held in Ibadan.
Speaking on the theme “Empowering the Nigeria Economy: Grassroot Solutions to Counter Naira Devaluation,” Barrister Lanre, who is also the guest speaker, said the federal government should intensify efforts in controlling trade deficit, monetary policies and inflationary trends in the nation.
Barrister Lanre also appealed to Nigerians to patronize made in Nigeria products, which he said would boost the value of the nation’s currency.
He called on surveyors to educate Nigerians on the need to lease their land rather than selling, noting that outright land sales would negatively affect the future of the nation’s economy.
Earlier, President of Nigerian Institution of Surveyors, Dr Matthew Ibitoye, had described the annual event as a significant platform for reflection and to discuss issues affecting the profession.
Dr Ibitoye also used the opportunity to announce NIS forthcoming 90th Anniversary, slated for 15th and 16th of October, 2024.
Chairman, Nigerian Institution of Surveyors, Oyo State, Surveyor Waheed Lamidi said the lecture was to reflect on the contributions of late Surveyor Lasisi Alli to the development of the profession.
Surveyor Lamidi called on prospective land buyers to always patronize services of professionals in their quest of acquiring landed properties.
Present at the event were children of late Surveyor Alli and surveyors across the country.
