The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Oyo State Command, convened a pivotal Management Meeting on Wednesday, 17th April, 2024, at the State Command headquarters. The meeting brought together the Command’s top brass, including Heads of Department, Heads of Units, Area Commanders, Sectional Heads, Unit Commanders, and Divisional Officers, for a comprehensive briefing by the State Commandant, Commandant Augustine Padonu, on crucial issues of concern, assessment, and evaluations of the activities of various formations across the State.
During the briefing, Commandant Padonu issued a directive to all Area Commanders and Divisional Officers to initiate security operations within their respective jurisdictions to ensure the successful conduct of the upcoming April 27th Local Government election in Oyo State, to be conducted by the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC). Emphasizing the critical role of the NSCDC in ensuring a secure and conducive environment for the electoral process, the Commandant underscored the importance of upholding peace and security during the election period.
Furthermore, the State Commandant stressed the imperative for the management team to exemplify the culture of discipline and professionalism in discharging their duties and responsibilities during the election. He reiterated the NSCDC’s commitment to upholding the highest standards of conduct and ethical practices, underscoring the organization’s dedication to fostering a secure and fair electoral atmosphere.
The Management Meeting provided a platform for in-depth discussions on various issues of concern surrounding the forthcoming election, covering topics such as security preparedness, coordination with relevant stakeholders, and strategies for ensuring the safety and well-being of all citizens during the electoral process.
NSCDC, Oyo State Command, remains steadfast in its commitment to safeguarding the democratic process and upholding the peace and security of the State, working in close collaboration with the relevant authorities to ensure a smooth and successful Local Government election.
