The Nigeria Union of Pensioners, NUP, Oyo State Council has appealed to Governor Seyi Makinde to increase this year’s Christmas bonus for the state’s retirees to 50,000 naira.
Secretary of the union, Comrade Olusegun Abatan made the appeal at a public function in Ibadan, Oyo state capital.
According to Comrade Abatan, the 25,000 naira paid by the state government to pensioners last year could no longer meet up with the current economic realities in the country.
The Oyo NUP scribe lauded Governor Makinde’s commitment to retirees’ welfare.
