The Oyo State Health Insurance Agency, OYSHIA has reimbursed over 147 million naira to retirees under the scheme.
Executive Secretary, Dr Sola Akande made this known at the symbolic presentation of the cheque to the executives of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Oyo state council, held at Pensioners, House, Agbarigo, Onireke Ibadan.
Dr Akande said the refund was part of Governor Seyi Makinde’s Sustainable Actions for Economic Recovery, SAfER package for retirees and to strengthen their health insurance status.

Dr Akande noted that the refund was 4,000 naira deducted from the retirees between September and December, 2022 for health insurance.
On his part, Chairman, Local Government Staff Pension Board, Hon. Ademola Ige said administrative steps have been put in place to ensure the refund fees get to the retirees.

Receiving the cheque on behalf of Pensioners, Secretary, Oyo NUP, Comrade Olusegun Abatan lauded Governor Makinde for his magnanimity towards the welfare of Pensioners and urged him to consider the union’s demands on his table, especially at this period of new minimum wage implementation.


Oyo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, Permanent Secretary, Local Government Staff Pension Board, Alhaji Lukman Muraina, Chairman, Oyo NUP, Chief Isiaka Abolade and Assistant secretary, Oyo NUP, Comrade Banji Koleoso were dignitaries present at the occasion.
