Nigeria Union of Pensioners, NUP, Southwest zone has advised that the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation should be under the Presidency.
The Public Relations Officer of NUP Southwest zone, Comrade Olusegun Abatan said this during the zonal meeting of the union in Oshogbo, Osun State capital.
Comrade Abatan said the call that the ministry should be under the purview of the Presidency was to ensure appropriate supervision of its programmes for senior citizens and other vulnerable Nigerians.
According to Comrade Abatan, senior citizens and vulnerable Nigerians have not benefitted from the ministry.
Speaking further, the Southwest NUP PRO also appealed to the federal government to consider state police due to the level of insecurity across the country.
According to Comrade Abatan, state police would effectively tackle activities of terrorists.
The Oyo NUP Scribe, equally commended security agencies in the country for their efforts in reducing crime.
