Some poultry farmers in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital have lamented low patronage of chickens as Christmas approaches.
A team of Pensioners FM correspondents who visited some major markets in Ibadan such as Dugbe and Molete observed that prices of livestock have increased compared to last year.
Some of the poultry farmers in an interview said the low patronage was due to hike in the prices of chickens.

They attributed the exorbitant prices of chickens to the high price of day-old chicks and feeds.
According to them, the price of a broiler chicken is now between 7000 naira to 15,000 naira depending on the size.
They therefore called on the government to create a policy that would ensure price control of commodities, to reduce hardship on the masses.
