Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Oyo State council says suspected fraudsters are hiding under the delay in the payment of gratuities to swindle retirees.
Oyo State Secretary of the Union, Comrade Olusegun Abatan said this while reacting to a recent announcement by the state government that suspected fraudsters are swindling Pensioners with a promise to fast track their gratuities.
Comrade Abatan, said the union would continue to warn pensioners not to patronise those who told them to pay some amount of money to process the payment of their entitlements and appreciated the state government for joining voices with the union to alert retirees.
He equally lamented a situation whereby workers who retired in 2014 are just being paid their gratuities, nine years after their retirement, while many of them have died without spending a dime from their hard-earned entitlements.
Comrade Abatan appealed to the Oyo State government to fast-track payment of gratuities as removal of fuel subsidy has increased distribution of monthly federal allocation to other tiers of government.
The Oyo State NUP scribe, enjoined Pensioners not to venture into businesses that will make them go bankrupt
