Oyo Govt. Commences E-paymemt of Gratuities

Oyo state government is set to commence the electronic payment of gratuities to pensioners who retired from the state Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs between June to December, 2014 and June to December 2019.

The State Commissioner for Establishment and Training, Hon. Olusegun Olayiwola made the announcement at the data capturing and e-payment exercise, held at Pensioners House, Agbarigo, Onireke, Ibadan.

Hon. Olayiwola said the e-payment will be part of Governor Seyi Makinde’s promises to clear backlog of gratuities owed by past administrations.

He said the e-payment exercise would reduce the risk of theft and security breaches faced by retirees in the state.

Hon. Olayiwola called for cooperation from senior citizens, urging them to provide accurate details of their retirement documents.

On his part, Secretary, Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Oyo state council, Comrade Olusegun Abatan, lauded Governor Makinde for introducing the e-payment exercise and for releasing over 35 billion naira for payment of gratuities since assuming office in 2019.

Comrade Abatan advised retirees after receiving the money not to invest in unrealistic businesses.

Some of the beneficiaries appreciated Governor Makinde for prioritising their welfare.

Dignitaries present at the event were Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Establishment and Training, Mr Olajide Okesade, Chairman, Oyo NUP, Chief Isiaka Abolade, Assistant Secretary, Comrade Banji Koleoso and management team of Ministry of Establishment and Training.

The exercise continues tomorrow and Friday.
