Oyo Pensioners Yet to Receive Palliatives – Comrade Abatan

The Nigeria Union of Pensioners, NUP Oyo State Council has described Pensioners as endangered humans due to the effects of fuel subsidy removal.

The Executive Secretary of the Union, Comrade Olusegun Abatan made this known while featuring on a monitored radio programme in Ibadan.

According to Comrade Abatan, the hardship brought upon pensioners in the state and across the country since the removal of fuel subsidy by the administration of President Bola Tinubu, has been unbearable.

The NUP Scribe said up until now, no pensioner in Oyo state has received any form of palliative from the government.

Comrade Abatan called on the Oyo state government under the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde as a matter of urgency, to follow the template of the federal government approval of 35,000 naira for workers and vulnerable pensioners pending the review of minimum wage.

The Oyo NUP Executive Secretary also urged Oyo state government as a pace setter state, to do more in terms of food, transport and health palliatives for retirees.
