Palliatives: FG, Ekiti, Oyo, Osun Yet to Pay Pensioners

Nigeria Union of Pensioners, NUP, Southwest Zone, says the federal and some state governments are yet to disburse palliatives to their retired workers.

The Zonal Public Relations Officer, PRO of the Union, Comrade Olusegun Abatan made this known while speaking with newsmen at the quarterly meeting of the union, held in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti state capital.

Comrade Abatan who is also the Secretary of NUP, Oyo State Council, however, said states like Ogun and Ondo have begun disbursement of 10,000 naira as palliatives to their pensioners.

According to him “Nothing has happened in Osun, Ekiti state to that effect and in Oyo state, Pensioners have not been paid any money”

Comrade Abatan, therefore urged the federal government and other state governments to emulate Ogun and Ondo states.

Speaking further, Comrade Abatan urged the southwest governors to address the nonpayment of pension and gratuities and also stressed the need for harmonization of monthly pension.

The Southwest Zonal PRO of NUP, also called on the state governments to look into the proposal of 40,000 naira minimum pension submitted to them by the union.
