A one day media orientation on Human Papilloma Virus, HPV/Non Polio Supplemental Immunization Integrated Activities, NPSIA, is ongoing at in Oyo town, Oyo state.
The programme is organised by the Oyo State Ministry of Information and Orientation in collaboration with United Nations Children Fund, UNICEF.
According to Oyo State HPV Project Officer, who is also a director at the Ministry of Information and Orientation, Mr. Rotimi Babalola, said the programme seeks synergy with the media in the area of sensitising the public on issues concerning HPV/NPSIA and measles and other health issues among women and children.
In her goodwill message, UNICEF’s Social Behavioral Change Specialist, Mrs. Aderonke Akinola – Akinwole emphasised on synergy and cross fertilisation of ideas between UNICEF, the media and other partners, especially in correcting myths and misconceptions about immunisation against HPV and other related health challenges.
Earlier in her opening remarks, UNICEF Programme Officer, Oyo state Ministry of Information and Orientation, Mrs. Adeola Adewole, who appreciated media partners for their previous support, called for more collaboration.
Various projects coordinators across Southwest and Edo state took turns to give updates about their activities.

The meeting which ends today is also expected to come up with strategies to ensure adequate administration of the upcoming measles immunisation next week.

Among the over 60 participating media professionals drawn across southwest and Edo state, include General Manager, Pensioners’ FM, Dr. Babatunde Tiamiyu and Oyo State UNICEF consultant, Mr Samuel Olatunji.
