Nigeria Union of Pensioners, NUP, Southwest zone, says President Bola Tinubu’s administration is yet to pay 25,000 naira wage award to Pensioners, to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal.
The union said this in a communique issued at the end of a meeting of state chairmen, secretaries and leaders, held in Abeokuta, Ogun state.
Reading the communique, Public Relations Officer of the union in South West, Comrade Olusegun Abatan appealed to President Tinubu’s administration to fulfil the promise as agreed in the agreement with organized labour last year October.
The Union noted that the delay in the payment of wage award to federal retirees was having adverse effects on them and their families
The Oyo NUP scribe also advocated that NUP be given full membership of the tripartite committee.
The NUP Southwest zone further called on government to declare a state of emergency on food security and advocated creation of food production zones in each geo-political zone of the country.
